Do not shut the refrigerator into the kitchen. Do not restrict your mind to straight horizons. An innovative change in reasoning has placed a refrigerator where cool gourmet delights are the most welcome: at the heart of a table, at the focal point of a social space, a conference room, or an eminent reception hall. The new convertible is a daring reply to such everyday questions.

How does innovation come about?

SmarTable is a unique response to the surprisingly common practice in the use of a refrigerator:

• over 75 percent of food stored in a refrigerator is intended for immediate consumption – without cooking or other thermal processing;
• dwellers of contemporary residential facilities prefer their refrigerators to be as close as possible to the living room;
• most users prefer the shortest possible distance from the refrigerator to the place where meals are consumed.

Based on this given information, a new approach and understanding of refrigerators / freezers was developed a few years back within Gorenje. When the information is convened into an innovative interpretation, a new concept of convenient beauty is born: SmarTable is the unique combination of a prestigious table and an integrated refrigerator.

SmarTable is an innovative product that saw its debut in October 2005 at the Gorenje Trade Show in Velenje. It was a part of the "kitchen of the future" concept being developed at the time. Mr. Janez Smerdelj, Creative Director of the Gorenje Design Studio, headed the development. Parts of this concept have also been copyright protected or patented.
